Who is your Commander-in-Chief?

"You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus… No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier." 2Ti 2:1, 2Ti 2:4

Across this country Christians are wringing their hands over the recent election. America has chosen to sell its soul, for the empty promise of peace and prosperity by a government devoted to a socialistic agenda. We have elected a president whose "religious" bent is built on Marxist "theology" and so-called "progressive" socialistic agenda.

We are entering an hour of trial. Each of us must determine the fundamental truths that define our life. Either we live by the eternal truths of God’s word, or we sell our selves and our future for compromise and comfort.

My conviction is that it is good that we have come to this point. Now we must define our true convictions. What price will we pay to stand for truth? Either Jesus Christ controls history, or all our profession is in vain. Are we willing to take personal responsibility for the state of our nation? Are we willing to confess our own compromise with this world which is passing away, at the cost of loyalty to our crucified Savior?

This is not a time to whimper and bemoan our fate. This is a time to take our place at the wall, and stand in the gap. Nothing changes the commission of the child of God. We are called to declare to a dying world the condemnation of all it holds dear, and the one way of escape, faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ. Now we will find out what we truly believe. Now is the time to take our stand, in the practical matters of daily life.

If we are not the men and women we are called to be, in the daily round of family, friends, and neighbors, how can we hope to escape? If we choose to align with the adversaries of truth in practical matters, how will we expect to be delivered from the consequences of those decisions?

If we want to respond with wisdom instead of reacting in frustration, then lets be obedient to our Commander regarding our leaders.

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." 1Ti 2:1-5

We should all be praying for our new President, and for his family, that they will come to fully know and appreciate the saving grace of our Lord, and to serve Him who is King of kings.

Let us remember that our Commander is coming, and His reward is with Him. Let us live by conviction, not by convenience. We are citizens of heaven, and God’s kingdom reigns where His will is done, on earth as in heaven. Let us banish fear, as the hated power of the Enemy, and claim our birthright as overcomers in a fallen world.

Now is the time for serious soul-searching, confession, and purification. May we rise to the occasion to which we are called. Just as gold is purified in the fire, so heroes are forged in the fires of adversity. Persecution is coming to the saints in America, as it has for so long been the lot of believers in other countries. The suffering saints of other lands have long prayed for the refining of the church in America. May their prayers be heard, and may we learn the lessons they have learned. For, all that is of this world must pass away, but those who do the will of the Father will abide forever. Christ will come in victory and glory. May we be waiting for Him in humility and honor. May He strip from us all that hinders our purest and most genuine devotion to Him and His eternal cause. And let us not fear, for He is with us, even unto the end. Amen.
